Linking fire-atmosphere interactions to Canyon Fire eruption

Principal Investigator: Craig Clements

IAB Mentor: Phil Agnelli

The goal of the project is to advance understanding of local-scale  phenomena controlling the evolution of wildfires and extreme fire behavior in canyons.

Analyses of data collected during the  California Canyon Fire Experiment on 24 October 2022, the first experiment of its kind, will be conducted. IAB partners were able to test their products during the experimental fire. The outcomes of this project are to further understanding of micrometeorological processes and the role fire-induced winds have on fire eruption in canyons.
