The first step toward a new generation of wildfire models

Principal Investigator: Aurelien Costes, Adam Kochanski

IAB Mentor: Josh Hacker - Jupiter Intelligence

This project aims to improve wildfire modeling by addressing the limitations of the current framework. Developing a multi-model approach will capture the diverse physical processes occurring at various spatial and temporal scales. This improvement is crucial as the existing models oversimplify the rate-of-spread and lack fine-scale representation of key processes, particularly in complex environments. The project's objectives include enhancing our understanding of wildfires, offering modular research and operational tools, and providing a more comprehensive framework for improved predictions and management strategies.
